On how Vince McMahon wanted to portray Cryme Tyme:
“Shad and I had a sit down with Vince McMahon and he told us exactly what he wanted. He said I want you guys to be my babyface heels and I want to take the thug stereotype/ thug look and I want to flip it. I want you to be loved instead of people being scared of the whole thug look and image. We don’t want you guys coming out mean-mugging or looking mad, you guys are happy and when you guys steal it’s never for yourself, it’s to steal it and sell it or auction it. It was genius. Vince McMahon is an evil genius (laughs)”
On thinking Shad missing was a joke and he knew his friend was gone:
“I thought it was a prank because that’s something we usually do. His wife called me from his phone and she was telling me Shad’s missing. I’m thinking okay how do you lose a 6 foot 7 guy at the beach. I was going along with it. When I got there she told me she’s getting flashlights and she didn’t tell me all of the details because his son was in the car. She eventually started telling me the story my heart dropped to my stomach because it wasn’t looking good at all. We’re all at the beach and I don’t know where I’m looking. Then I just accepted it, like around midnight, I think my boy is gone.”
On WWE wanting Cryme Tyme to return in 2018:
“I went backstage at SmackDown with Shad and the head of talent relations wanted to speak to us and we went and had a private conversation with him. He pretty much said we would love to have you guys back you guys look great you’re staying busy and the door is always open here at WWE, you guys already know that and we’d love to have you guys send us some stuff and let’s talk and see what we can come up with. Let’s get you guys back rolling, get you guys back on the ball and we were like cool. Then there was some back and forth, but nothing got solidified.”
On seeing KofiMania and now Bobby Lashley becoming WWE Champion, what Shad would’ve thought:
“It definitely caught me off guard. Then I saw the picture of all of the Hurt Business members and in the back of my head I’m thinking man do I want to be a part of this? Shad would’ve been proud of Bobby we all had a great relationship and he would’ve been so proud to see MVP back.”
